Wellness Components
The department offers lifetime fitness courses that have wellness
components:
1) Physical: Any physical activity benefits
an individual regardless of efforts put forth- walking,
golf,
tennis, etc.
2) Mental: Each individual will show some
level of improvement in the form of coordination,
reflexes,
confidence and stress reduction which all can help one's self
esteem.
3) Social: Group participation helps to
build confidence in the individual's ability to participate in
group
activities.
4) Instructors can also discuss the value of heart rate (pulse),
blood pressure, the value of good eating
habits and the effects fitness activities have on them.
