INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Stevenson's Special Olympics story published on May 20 has been nominated for the July NCAA Division III Special Olympics Spotlight Poll. It is one of three stories from Division III institutions chosen by the NCAA to appear in the Division III monthly newsletter and on the Division III homepage.
The poll will open on Monday, July 1 and the story with the highest number of votes by 5:00 p.m. ET on July 25 will be declared the winner. The winning institution will also be given $500 to use for its next Special Olympics event.
For the past four years, Stevenson has sent student-athletes to volunteer at the Carroll County Special Olympics Spring Games. This past spring, 54 athletes from 12 different sports helped run the annual games on April 22. To view the story, click here.
