Stevenson Has 110 Athletes Named CAC All-Academic

YORK, Pa. - Stevenson University had 110 student-athletes named to the CAC All-Academic Team on Monday, the fourth-highest total among the conference's nine schools. The Mustangs' 110 honorees were improvement over their 90 selections a year ago.

Over one-third of Stevenson's 300 student-athletes, or 36.7 percent, were named All-Academic, the second-highest increase from last year's 29.2 percent.

A total of 920 CAC student-athletes from the nine institutions competing in conference's 19 championship sports were named to the 2008-09 All-Academic Team.

Student-athletes in one or more CAC championship sports that attain a 3.20 grade point average for the academic year earn a berth on the 2008-09 All-Academic Team.

York (Pa.) led all schools with 187 total selections, followed by 136 from Salisbury and St. Mary's (Md.) who had 132. The Mustangs edged Mary Washington for fourth as the Eagles had 108 selections.

St. Mary's had the highest percentage of its student-athletes earn All-Academic at 54.1 percent while York was second at 46.2 percent. Gallaudet finished third at 45.6 percent, but had the greatest improvement from last year when the Bison totaled 35.2 percent.

Stevenson had the sixth-best percentage behind Marymount (Va.) in fourth and Salisbury in fifith.
