Mustangs Sweep Huntingdon, Top Loyola

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team picked up two wins in its own Stevenson Invitational on Saturday.  The Mustangs swept Huntingdon 5-0, then topped Loyola (Md.) 4-1 in Saturday's second match.

Against the Hawks, the No. 5 match went three sets, with Lizi Cudal and Grace Chaffee prevailing 19-21, 24-22, 15-11.  At No. 1, Trang Christensen and Katie Leftridge allowed just 10 total points in a 21-7, 21-3 win.  Darian Hileman and Piper Connors pulled out a 21-18, 21-19 win at No. 2.

Emily Castro and Caroline Dangel prevailed 21-16, 21-16 at No. 3, while Mackenzie Blevins and Emily Pellini posted a 21-14, 21-14 triumph at No. 4.

Against the Greyhounds, who are not a varsity program, Christensen and Leftridge notched a 21-16, 21-13 victory, while Castro and Dangel won 21-5, 21-17.  Blevins and Pellini won their match at No. 4 21-9, 21-7, with Cudal and Chaffee completing a 2-0 day with a 21-14, 21-15 win.

Hileman and Connors fell in three sets after taking the first set at No. 2 19-21, 21-8, 15-10.

Stevenson takes on the Liberty University club team Sunday at 10 am before a rematch with Huntingdon at 4 pm.
