Villa Julie Baseball Defeats Penn State-Berks in DH

Glen Burnie, MD - The Mustangs handled Penn State-Berks in both ends of a double header on Saturday to up their record to 12-9-1.  

In Game 1, Sophomore Derrick Nason (4-0) pitched 5 innings striking out 4 and picking up his 4th victory of the season.  Offensively, the Mustangs scored 7 in the first, and never looked back.  Junior Griffin Stewart was 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI's, Junior Brett Steele added 2 hits, 1 RBI, Senior Buddy Breidenbaugh added 2 hits, a double 2 RBI's, and Senior Alex Laddbush also added 2 hits and 2 RBI's on the day.

Game 2 again started with the Mustangs hitting 4 runs in the 1st and 2 more in the 2nd to build their lead and again put PSU Berks away early.  Game 2 saw the Mustangs use 4 pitchers with Junior Chris Hayden striking out 1 in two innings, Sophomore John Jackson striking out 5 in 2 innings, Sophomore John Skrynecki striking out 5 in 2 innings, and Senior Alex Laddbush striking out 2 in his 1 inning worth of work.  Offensively, Freshman Nick Sydnor led the team with 4 RBI's on a 2-3 afternoon with a double.  Sophomore George Papuchis was 2-4 with 3 RBI's, Senior Buddy Breidenbaugh was 2-3 with 4 runs scored and 2 RBI's while hitting his 2nd triple of the season.  Junior Brett Steele was 2-4 with 3 runs scored, his 4th home run of the season and 2 RBI's.  

The Mustangs are back in action on Monday, as they travel to CAC foe Gallaudet University for a 3 pm start.
