DUBUQUE, Iowa - Stevenson baseball assistant coach Nathan Roling was named Manager of the Year by the River Valley League, a collegiate wooden bat league located in Dubuque, Iowa. Roling led the Waves to the league championship with a 17-12 record and had 10 players named All-RVL, including the RVL Hitter of the Year.

Under Roling, the Waves tied the Hawks for the regular season championship, but record-setting rainfall totals in Dubuque washed out the RVL championship weekend and the Waves were declared the 2010 league champion after they finished with a 6-4 record against the Hawks.

The Waves' 10 All-RVL selections were the second-most in the league and the team boasted four gold glove winners. Assistant coach J.D. Judd of Clarke College was runner-up for the Assistant Coach of the Year while Lawrence University's Robert Rashid was the Hitter of the Year and Clarendon College's Roderick Fields was a finalist for Freshman of the Year.

"There is no question that Nathan is a fine leader of men and will undoubtedly make a terrific head coach for a collegiate team in the future," said eighth-year head coach Jason Tawney. "It is people like Nate that help our program produce quality young men year in and year out."

Roling finished his second season as an assistant at Stevenson in 2010 monitoring the academics of the student-athletes, working with the hitters and catchers, recruiting, coaching first base, handling baseball operations and serving as head coach for the JV program.

A 2008 graduate of Loras College, Roling was a two-time Academic All-Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection and served as a team captain for the Duhawks as a senior. Prior to Loras, he spent one year at Iowa Central Community College playing for the Tritons.

During the summer of 2009, he served as an instructor at the Ripken Baseball Academy.

Stevenson finished the 2010 season 18-23 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the CAC Baseball Championship. The Mustangs also posted two wins over nationally-ranked teams, including No. 7 Salisbury on March 27 and No. 7 Shenandoah on April 22.
