READING, Pa. - Stevenson baseball sophomore Troy Miller (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) and senior Heath Johnson (New Castle, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) combined to go 7-for-11 with seven RBIs while junior Greg Myers (Baltimore, Md./Parkville) picked up his school-record ninth win of the season as the Mustangs clinched a playoff spot, defeating Albright Friday at Keichner Field, 17-3.
The Mustangs (23-14, 12-7 MAC) scored 10 runs in the first four innings and in every inning, but the fifth and seventh in the convincing win.
Nine players scored at least one run for Stevenson, including freshman Kevin Wu (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) who scored his first career run on an RBI-single by freshman Davis Grove (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) in the ninth inning.
Johnson had a hand in eight of the runs, driving in four and scoring four. Junior Tom Goulian (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) scored twice to increased his team lead to 41 runs this season.
Senior Josh Morris (Gambrills, Md./Arundel) recorded his 100th career hit in the third inning on an RBI-single that scored senior Brad Blum (Olney, Md./Magruder) while Johnson's 4-for-5 afternoon placed him just one hit shy of 100.
After spotting the Lions (12-21, 3-16 MAC) a first-inning run, Myers and freshman Alec Romanowski (Endwell, N.Y./Maine Endwell) combined to retire 21 of the next 23 batters over seven scoreless innings.
Albright's Kevin O'Neill was tagged for the loss, giving up 10 runs, including seven earned, on 10 hits over 3.1 innings.
Stevenson wraps-up its three-game series with Albright on Saturday with a doubleheader at Park Field beginning at noon on Senior Day. The Mustangs will honor its nine seniors in a pre-game ceremony beginning at 10:45 AM.
