Villa Julie College Head Baseball Coach Jason Tawney is entering his 6th season at the helm of the baseball team. In 2007, Villa finished the season with their first NCAA regional appearance During Coach Tawney's tenure, the program has seen many positive changes including: First winning season, first Conference games, first post-season appearance, first NCAA Regional Appearance, a change from the NEAC to the Capital Athletic Conference and numerous players earning Conference and Regional recognition. In the past 3 seasons the Mustangs and Coach Tawney have amassed a record of 78-55, 2 NEAC regular season Championships and 3 NEAC runner-up Conference Tournament Championships. In 2002, VJC led all of the NCAA DIII in stolen bases. The 2007 team finished with a .328 average (49th), 4.01 ERA (65th), and 7.3 k's per 9 innings (32nd) in the country respectfully. Coach Tawney has also raised the level of competition by scheduling some of the best programs in the area including: Johns Hopkins, Salisbury University, York College, University of Mary Washington, Christopher Newport, North Carolina-Wesleyan, Hampden Sydney and Washington & Lee to name a few.
Coach Tawney was on the inaugural Carroll County Rangers team, a local organization in 1991. In 1994, he was named offensive MVP for the 18 and under Carroll County Rangers after leading the team in numerous offensive categories and was named to the Baltimore Metro League All-Star Team. To this day Tawney credits his fundamentals of the game to his coaches from the Rangers organization. A graduate of North Carroll High School, he was a 4-year letterman and 2 year Captain. After being named All-Conference and All-County for his Junior and Senior seasons he continued his career at Division II Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina. After 3 seasons, being a part of nationally ranked squads, an injury shortened his career. Tawney graduated from Wingate University in 1999 with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance with University Honors. As a Financial Advisor, Coach Tawney has put his degree to work and currently operates his Edward Jones Investments office in Catonsville, MD. Continuing his education, he has earned his Accredited Asset Management Specialist designation from the College for Financial Planning. He is also President of the Greater Catonsville Chamber of Commerce, and on the Board of Directors for numerous Non-Profit organizations in the area. Coach Tawney resides in Catonsville with his wife heather and 2 dogs Haley (Great Dane), Reilly (Cocker Spaniel) and Floyd (Miniature Poodle).

Mike Rubin Baseball
Mike Rubin enters his 3rd season as part of the Villa Julie College coaching staff. His roles are that of the Recruiting Coordinator and general Assistant Coach. Mike is a tireless recruiter. Most High School students will hear from Coach Rubin and he is the primary contact for all recruits when dealing with the Villa Julie baseball team. Mike is also heading up the VJC baseball camps this off-season. Mike is the driving force behind the 78 wins, his recruiting efforts have afforded Villa Julie the opportunity to compete at a national level and begin their developmental squad.
Coach Rubin is a graduate of Westminster High School after which he spent time in Shepherd College's program before transferring to Towson University to finish his degree. He graduated from McDaniel College with his Masters in Education in May 2006 and continues to coach while teaching Physical Education at a local elementary school. Coach Rubin currently resides in Owings Mills, MD.

Mark Chiveral Baseball
Mark Chiveral begins his 9th year as Assistant Coach at Villa Julie College. He has served as the pitching coach since the start of the VJC baseball program. During his tenure, he has developed the pitching staff as a key strength of the team. Coach Chiveral believes strong pitching and solid defense will position the VJC program to be very competitive in the 2007 season. In 2006, his pitching staff amassed the most wins in VJC history with 29, and an ERA of 4.00. In 2007, that was backed up with an ERA of 4.01. With freshman and sophomores representing close to 75% of those innings, he is expecting a spectacular year out of some of the veterans on the staff.
Prior to joining VJC, Coach Chiveral served as an Assistant Pitching Coach at Loyola College for 7 years. During the summer, Mark is a player/manager for the Degroen's Baseball Club, which is part of the Baltimore Baseball League.
A graduate of Patterson High School, Mark lettered in football and baseball and had a lifetime pitching record of 18 wins and loss. Mark also attended Essex Community College, where he was the anchor of the pitching staff for 2 seasons. Mark is currently employed by Johns Hopkins University Department of Biostatistics. Mark, his wife Suzanne and daughter Madelyn reside in Arbutus, Maryland.

Andy Levy Baseball
Andy Levy rejoins the staff for his 2nd season after 2 great seasons as the starting catcher for Villa Julie. He has poured his heart into the program and using his senior year to contribute from a coaching standpoint. Andy's primary goal is to work with our catchers to fine tune their abilities ranging from their footwork to the mental approach to calling pitches. Andy finished up his Psychology Degree in May, and is currently employed by Cal Ripken Baseball as an instructor specializing in Catching Defense. He currently resides in Owings Mills, MD.

Mike D'Andrea Baseball
Mike D'Andrea rejoins the staff for his 2nd season after graduating from John Carroll University in Ohio. After spending a season at Notre Dame as an assistant he joins the Villa Julie staff as a Graduate Assistant. Mike's primary duties are related to academics. He administers study halls, and academic advising for baseball players. On the field, Mike works tirelessly with infield and outfield defense. Mike is also the Head Coach for the developmental squad for mostly freshmen. Mike's inaugural season ended with the Mustangs maintaining a 2.91 GPA.
Mike was a 4 year starter for John Carroll University as a middle infielder, serving as a captain during his junior and senior seasons. "Mike is a tremendous addition to our staff, he brings energy to practice, and has a very tough job to keep our team GPA above a 3.0. However he has been doing a great job, and our players are responding to his day to day help in the classroom" says Head Coach Jason Tawney.

Todd Perry Baseball
Todd Perry begins his second year as part of the Villa Julie College coaching staff. He has served as a general assistant coach, working mainly with the pitching staff and infield. Todd has also assisted in recruiting. A graduate of Catonsville High School, Todd was a four year starting shortstop and anchor of the pitching staff at Washington College.
During the summer, Coach Perry plays for two semi-pro baseball teams: Spring Grove and Susquehanna Assault, which are part of the Baltimore Baseball League and Susquehanna Semi-Pro Baseball League. Todd currently resides in Catonsville with his dog Boh (Boxer).

Anthony DiGiorgio Baseball
Anthony DiGiorgio is entering his 6th season as an Assistant Coach of the Villa Julie College baseball team. Coach DiGiorgio has been serving as the third base coach since his first year at Villa Julie. Defensively DiGiorgio works with the catchers developing their receiving, blocking and throwing skills. He also contributes to the team as a hitting coach.
In 1996 Anthony graduated from Northeast High School in Anne Arundel County where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He continued his baseball career at Anne Arundel Community College from 1997-1998 where he was named MVP and 1st Team All-Region as a catcher. After receiving his Associates of Arts Degree from AACC he spent the summers of 1998 and 1999 in Antwerp, Belgium competing in an international tournament against Olympic teams from Europe. He was the recipient of the MVP award for his play in the 1998 Belgian Open Baseball Tournament. He continued his education and baseball career at UMBC. After recovering from a torn shoulder ligament that required surgery in 2000, Anthony returned to the UMBC baseball team in 2001 and helped contribute to his teams Northeast Conference Championship.
