Former major league pitcher and Baltimore Oriole Brian Bass joins the Mustangs for his first season in 2014 where he will assistant with the pitching staff.
Bass played 13 professional seasons and spent four seasons with three different teams in Major League Baseball, including the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates. Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the sixth round of the 2000 First Year Player Draft, he compiled a 9-7 record, 104 strikeouts and 5.16 ERA over 183.0 innings.
Bass made his MLB debut on Apr. 1, 2008 for the Twins and his last appearance on Sept. 8, 2010 for the Pirates. He spent the bulk of his Major League career with the Orioles where he totaled a 4.86 ERA in 107.1 innings primarily out of the bullpen.
A graduate of Lee High School in Montgomery, Ala., Bass currently provides private youth pitching instruction as the owner and operator of Side Sessions located in Baltimore. He and his wife Jennifer reside in Reisterstown.
