Stevenson Cheer Takes First at Spirit Cheer Open

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Stevenson University cheerleading team took home first place at the Rockin' Virginia Open Nationals sponsored bt Spirit Cheer and held Saturday-Sunday, January 24-25 at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center.

The competition was the first of the season for Stevenson who captured first place in the college all-girl, non-tumbling division with a final score of 8.11 points.

"We were very excited to start off our competition season with a great performance," said Stevenson head coach Jill Matheny.

The team's next competition will be at the Terrapin Classic, hosted by Spirit Unlimited at the University of Maryland's Comcast Center on Feburary 7.
