Stevenson Cheer Raises Money For Lupus Research
OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University cheerleading team raised $1,281 for the Alliance for Lupus Research during the organization's Baltimore Walk With Us to Cure Lupus event held at Rash Field at the Inner Harbor on April 25.
The team's total was the 14th highest among the teams participating in the annual 5K walk and was well over their goal of $300.
It was also the team's second notable community service initiative this year under head coach Jill Matheny. Back in October, Stevenson participated in the Maryland Cheers for Our Troops program which collected items for soldiers from the state of Maryland currently serving in Iraq.
The cheer team's total went toward the Alliance's goal of raising $125,000 for Lupus research. To date, the organization has raised $95,187.83 which is over 76 percent of its desired total.
Donations are still being accepted until December 31 and can be sent to the address below. When submitting a donation, please include the ID number MBD-50075 in the memo line so that your donation will go toward the team's total.
