ORLANDO, Fla. - For the third-straight year, the Stevenson dance team competed at the UCA and UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship, advancing to the semifinals in both the Open Pom and Open Hip Hop categories. This year's event was held from January 18-20 at the Walt Disney World Resort.
The Mustangs were one of 11 teams that advanced to the semifinals in the Open Pom category with their routine "Are You Ready?" The College of St. Benedict (Minn.) took home first place followed by Orange Coast College (Calif.). The Open category featured colleges and universities from all levels, including NCAA Division II, Division III, NJCAA and NAIA.

Stevenson was one point away from advancing to the finals of the Open Hip Hop competition with its routine "Fresh." A total of 10 teams advanced to the finals, highlighted by Lindenwood (Mo.) who won its fifth national championship, edging out other finalists including the University of Saint Thomas, Wisconsin-Eau Claire and The College of New Jersey.

The 2013 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship was produced by the Universal Cheerleaders Association and Universal Dance Association. The prestigious competition annually showcases the country's best college cheerleaders, dance team performers and mascots.
