ANNVILLE, Pa. - Stevenson football freshman K.K. Smith (Glen Burnie, Md./Archbishop Spalding) was selected as the Middle Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year and named to the All-MAC First Team on Wednesday while senior Ricky Congo (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Spalding) was named to the All-MAC Second Team.
Coming off of a season-ending injury on just the third play from scrimmage in the 2011 season opener at Shenandoah, Smith led the conference in rushing this season, totaling 1,357 yards and 11 touchdowns. He ranked second in the MAC in all-purpose yards at 150.8 per game as well.
Smith, who rushed for over 100 yards in seven out of 10 games this season, also ranks 13th in the NCAA in rushing and 24th in all-purpose yards.
Congo started all 10 games at left tackle for the Mustangs, a year after appearing in nine games as a defensive tackle. He bolstered an offense line that helped Stevenson ranked third in the Middle Atlantic Conference in rushing offense at 201.1 yards per game and 50th out of 240 teams in Division III.
The Mustangs also gave up the fourth-fewest sacks in the MAC this season, allowing just 16.
Stevenson finished its second-ever season with a 2-8 record, losing one game in overtime and four by 10 points or less, including two by just three points.
