Mustangs Picked to Finish Seventh in 2013 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Headed into its third season in program history, the Stevenson football team was picked to finish seventh in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Preseason Coaches Poll released by the conference office on Wednesday.
The Mustangs totaled 36 points, just two behind sixth-place Wilkes, after finishing 2-8 overall last season, including 2-7 in the MAC.
Lycoming was picked to win the conference championship this season, receiving 76 points and four first-place votes. The team finished second last year with an 8-2 overall record and a mark of 8-1 in the MAC. The Warriors have won 11 conference titles since 1983 when the MAC went from a North and South winner to an overall champion.
Lycoming last won a conference title in 2008 when it shared the championship with Delaware Valley and Albright. The Warriors were last picked to win the MAC in 2004.
Defending champion Widener, who is ranked at No. 20 in the 2013 D3football.com Top 25 preseason poll, was picked to finish second, receiving 68 points and two first-place votes. The Pride was just one point ahead of Delaware Valley was came in third and received one first-place vote.

Just 11 points separated the top four teams in the league as Albright, who finished fourth in the MAC last season with an 8-3 record after beating Franklin & Marshall in the ECAC South-East Bowl, was picked to finish fourth again this year with 65 points. The Lions also received three first-place votes.
