Ashton Leschke Earns Third Straight Google Cloud Academic All-District Nod

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – For the third straight year, senior Stevenson University linebacker Ashton Leschke was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 team selected by CoSIDA.

The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Football Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

A Biology major, Leschke was named a Middle Atlantic Conference First Team selection earlier this week, the third time in his career he has collected MAC All-Conference honors.  This season, Leschke leads the Mustangs with 74 total tackles while recording 3.5 tackles for a loss, four pass breakups, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Earlier this season, Leschke was named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, an award recognizing the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation across all divisions.

Stevenson makes its fifth straight postseason appearance on Saturday when it travels to Susquehanna to compete in the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series.  Kickoff is slated for 1 pm.
