Mustangs Edged by One Goal on the Road at Wesley

DOVER, Del. - Wesley jumped out to a 2-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game before holding on for a 2-1 victory over the Stevenson University field hockey team in a CAC contest Tuesday night at Dr. Scott Miller Stadium.
Both teams are now tied for fourth place in the CAC, half-a-game ahead of York (Pa.).
It was a tale of two halves for the Mustangs (6-0, 2-3 CAC) who were outshot 14-3 in the first while being on the short end of 5-0 advantage in penalty corners.
Sheree Pleasanton scored the first goal of the game for the Wolves (8-5, 2-3 CAC) less than three minutes into the contest before CAC Player of the Week Brooke Tadlock netted her team-leading 14th goal just over six minutes later to give Wesley a 2-0 lead which it would take into halftime.
In the second half, Stevenson outshot the Wolves 6-3 and totaled six penalty corners, but could not get on the board until senior Krissy Leventis (Baltimore/Lutheran) tallied her team-leading eighth goal of the year with only two seconds remaining in the game.
Sarah Johnson made all three of her saves in the second half for the Wolves while Stevenson sophomore Kara Zimmerman (Odenton/Arundel) finished the game with seven, six of which came in the first half to keep the Mustangs in the game.
The Mustangs don't return to action until Saturday, October 18 when they host local rival Goucher at 11:00 a.m., following an 11-day layoff.
