OWINIGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson University field hockey sophomore Katelyn Manocheh (Timonium/Maryvale Prep) had the first multi-goal game of her career while senior Cat Connelley (Fallston/Fallston) had two assists as the Mustangs defeated Richard Stockton 3-1 Saturday at the Caves Complex.

The win was the eighth of the season for Stevenson (8-9) which is just one short of the school record set in 1997 and 2000. The Mustangs also won eight games in 2001 and 2003.

Richard Stockton (3-12) held a 1-0 lead at halftime after Alexandra Speakman scored her second goal of the season just over 14 minutes into the game off an assist from Lynn Becker.

Manocheh would then tie the game 12 minutes into the second half, assisted by senior Krissy Leventis (Baltimore/Lutheran) after Leventis' shot was saved and Manocheh scored off the rebound on a blast from just inside the circle.

Less than seven minutes later, freshman Kelli Battista (Elkridge/Long Reach) scored the game-winner on her fifth goal of the year off an assist from Connelly.

Connelly, who was tied for CAC-lead in assists with seven entering this week, picked up two more on Saturday, but now trails Allison Roush of York (Pa.) after Rousch totaled her 10th of the season in the Spartans' 3-2 loss to Frostburg State on Saturday.

Manocheh added an insurance goal for the Mustangs with just over 10 minutes remaining, assisted by Connelly, to give the team its seventh win in 11 games at home this season.

Sophomore Kara Zimmerman (Odenton/Arundel) made three saves in picking up her eighth win this season while counterpart Debi O'Kane had seven for the Ospreys.

Stevenson held a 21-9 advantage in shots and a plus-two edge in penalty corners as both teams combined for 30, including 15 in each half.

The Mustangs will conclude the regular season at Frostburg State next Thursday before hosting Wesley on Sunday, November 2 in the quarterfinals of the 2008 CAC Field Hockey Championship.
