Three Mustangs Named to All-CAC Field Hockey Team

YORK, Pa. - After winning a school record 10 games, including its first CAC postseason game, achievements continued for the Stevenson University field hockey team on Thursday as the Mustangs had a conference-high three players named to the All-CAC First Team.
Senior Cat Connelly (Fallston/Fallston) received her second consecutive CAC selection after earning second team honors a year ago while sophomores Christie Greer (Bel Air/Bel Air) and Kara Zimmerman (Odenton/Arundel) each received their first career postseason accolades.
Kandice Hancock of Salisbury and St. Emily Smithson of St. Mary's (Md.) were named Co-Players of the Year with Salisbury's Tara McGovern and Dawn Chamberlin being chosen Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.
Connelly finished the season tied for the conference lead in assists with 11 while adding two goals to finish third on the team with 15 points. She started all 20 games this season, extending her consecutive games started streak to 39 dating back to 2006 when she did not play at Philadelphia Biblical on October 27.
Greer totaled four defensive saves in 18 games this season to rank second on the team and fifth in the CAC. In two seasons with the Mustangs, she has missed just two games, both coming this season because of illness, and has started all 36 games in which she has appeared.
The team's starting goalkeeper the last two seasons, Zimmerman ranked second in the CAC with 123 saves, fourth in shutouts, fifth in goals against average and fifth in save percentage. She started all 20 games and totaled 10 wins a year after totaling five in 18 starts last season.
