Zimmerman Named to Second All-Region First Team

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - A year after being one of the first players in school history to receive All-Region honors, Stevenson field hockey junior Kara Zimmerman (Odenton/Arundel) earned her second consecutive first team selection as she was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-South Region First Team on Monday.
Last year, Zimmerman was named to the first team along with senior Cat Connelly after the Mustangs totaled a school record 10 wins.
Zimmerman was named to the first team ahead of Johns Hopkins sophomore Amy Wharton who helped lead the 18th-ranked Blue Jays to a 13-6 record and the Centennial Conference championship game.
A two-time All-CAC selection, Zimmerman finished the season with a career-high 172 saves, a mark that was tops in the CAC. She also led the conference with an .808 saves percentage while earning All-CAC Player of the Week on November 2 and ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Defensive Player of the Week on November 3.
In three seasons, Zimmerman has totaled a school record 420 career saves.
