Mustangs Earn Repeat Trip to NCAA Tournament

Stevenson, MD.- The Mustangs win an overtime thriller to earn a repeat trip to the NCAA tournament with a 94-92 overtime win versus Chestnut Hill College in the NEAC Finals.  VJC was lead by NEAC tournament MVP Steven Segears (Lanham, MD/St. Johns) who ended with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists.  Also in double figures were Cilk McSweeney (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/Dillard) with 22 points, Chris Warren (Largo, MD/Bishop MacNamara) with 15 points, Kerry Dugan (Hereford, MD/ Hereford) with 10 points, and Jason Lambert (Suffield, CT/Kingswood) with 18 points.

The Griffins had a chance to win the game in regulation, but NEAC Player of the Year Isaac Greer missed the go-ahead free throw with 1.6 seconds.  The miss was one of the only things Greer did wrong the entire night, finishing with 24 points and 10 rebounds.  CHC was lead by junior David Goode who tallied a game-high 32 points.

The Mustangs are back in action on either Thursday or Friday when they will be participating in the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive year.
