Mustangs Battle Conference Foe at Home
Looking for a second win against Wesley College this season, the
Mustangs hosted the Wolverines.
Wesley took a quick lead at the 19:47 mark with a lay-up by Cody
White. Greg Woody (Baltimore, MD/Mt. St. Joeseph)
quickly retaliated with a three-point shot followed by a jumper by
Chaise Lancaster (Bowie, MD/Northwestern). The
Mustangs held on to their lead with 13:12 remaining in the half
with a good jump shot by Greg Collins (Baltimore,
MD/Western Tech) assisted by Woody. After
exchanging the lead many times, the Wolverines took off at the 6:06
mark with a 12-0 run to take the half leading 33-23.
Early in the second half, Woody and
Lancaster narrowed the gap with a jump shot and a
three-point shot. The Wolverines continued to hold the Mustangs off
as the clock dropped. Broderick Hill (Largo, MD/Bishop
McNamara) added three points for the Mustangs to close the
gap to 44-40 at 12:47. Wesley went on another run to extend their
lead to an eventual final score of 75-59.
The Mustangs were led by Lancaster with 12 points.
Jeremy Bernard (Baltimore, MD/Western Tech)
tallied 10 rebounds and eight points, while Anatoly Smolkin
(Baltimore, MD/Pikesville) added a career-high seven
blocks.
With the loss, the Mustangs fall to 5-15 (3-8 CAC). On February 6,
