2007-2008 Men's Baskeball Preview

Stevenson, MD - The Villa Julie College Men's Basketball team is the only Maryland school to gain its respective national tournament in back-to-back seasons. The team ended last season with a 20-8 overall record and a 15-2 record in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The twenty wins last season tied the school record for most wins in a season. This season will see Coach Adams take charge for his 14th season as the Mustangs face the challenge of competing in the nationally regarded Capital Athletic Conference (CAC). The Mustangs will face tough games against conference opponents York College, St. Mary's College, Hood College and the University of Mary Washington.

Four starters have graduated, and the fate of this young team might depend a lot on junior captains, Elysian Richardson and Anatoly Smolkin.  The top returning scorer is guard Jason Lambert averaging 9.9 points per game last season, and the point position is likely to be handled by a two- or three-player committee. Sophomore, Greg Woody will play a leadership role as a sophomore captain looking to hit the net from behind the three-point line.  The team will be counting on sophomore Jeremy Bernard to help out with rebounding to keep the ball in the Mustangs' hands.  The 10 new players on the bench will be looking for guidance from senior captain, Vincent "Cory" Johnson in their inaugural season in the difficult Capital Athletic Conference.
