Wild Stangs Increase Student Support at Athletic Events

STEVENSON, Md. - The Wild Stangs, the newly formed student section who made their first public appearance during the men's and women's basketball games on January 21 against Hood, have been creating a new energy and enthusiasum at Stevenson University athletic events and are encouraging more students to join.
Pcitured here against Hood, the Wild Stangs are led by Stevenson sophomore Jonathan Dorsey and have helped organized contests, giveaways and other events this winter in conjunction with the athletic department.
For now, the group is sharing their name with the university's beloved mascot Wild Stang, but there is talk of soliciting the help of the student body to come up with a permanent name to be used in marketing efforts and for use on t-shirts to show their support.
The Wild Stangs encourage Stevenson students, faculty and staff, alumni and fans to become part of this growing group and to help them grow.
"The Wild Stangs are an integral part to the energy at our home games," said Director of Athletics and Head Men's Basketball Coach Brett Adams. "The enthusiasm they bring is infectious and provides a significant boost on both offense and defense for our team."
The group will be visible at the four remaining basketball games this season, starting with York (Pa.) on Saturday. They also have created their own section in Student Union Gymnasium which is the first two sections of seats on the left as you enter the gym, directly across from the visiting team bench.
Increased shuttle service will be available for students from the Owings Mills campus beginning one hour before game time and up until one hour after each game.
Against the Spartans, there will be contests and giveaways, including FREE Wild Stangs t-shirts and food while supplies last.
