Murphy Leads Men's Basketball in Road Loss at Wesley

DOVER, Del. - Stevenson men's basketball freshman forward Danny Murphy (Severn/Glen Burnie) totaled 12 points and six rebounds, both team-highs, to lead the Mustangs in an 84-56 CAC road loss to Wesley at Wentworth Gymnasium Monday night.
For the second-straight game, the first half proved to be the difference in the game for Stevenson (1-15, 1-6 CAC) who made just 7-of-23 attempts from the floor in the opening half while going 0-for-7 from three-point range and falling behind by 22 at halftime.
Junior guard Patrick Lewis (Timonium/Dulaney) and freshman center Andrew Bishop (Lothian/Southern) each added seven points and five rebounds while junior guard Broderick Hill (Bowie/Bishop McNamara) had nine points, four rebounds and three assists.
Following a dunk by Murphy on a fastbreak, the Mustangs trailed by 10 with 4:44 left in the first half before the Wolverines closed the half on a 16-4 run to take a 46-24 lead at the half.
Kevin Johnson scored 13 of his 21 points in the first half while Sean McAndrew added 10 as Wesley (9-6, 3-4 CAC) shot 53.1 percent from the floor, making 17-of-32 attempts, including 7-of-13 from three-point range.
The Wolverines also scored 23 points off of 19 Stevenson turnovers in the first half and turned 28 total turnovers into 36 points. They also scored 44 points in the paint and 23 on the fast break.
Johnson was one of four players in double figures for Wesley as Rudy Thomas added 13 points, McAndrew 12 and Paul Reynolds 11.
