First-Place Hood Hands Mustangs 77-50 Road Loss

FREDERICK, Md. - Hood limited Stevenson to just four first half field goals and never trailed in building a 15-point halftime advantage en route to a 77-50 victory and moving into a first-place tie in the CAC Saturday at Fort Detrick's Odom Fitness Center.

The Blazers (12-6, 7-2 CAC) moved into a tie atop the CAC standings with 16th-ranked St. Mary's (Md.) who fell on the road at Salisbury Saturday, 76-66.

The Mustangs were held to 4-of-19 shooting from the floor in the first half, but managed 17 points after totaling three three-pointers and going 6-of-8 from the free throw line. They also committed 14 turnovers which led to 15 points for the Blazers.

Freshman guard Clifton Jones (Bowie/Archbishop Spaulding) led Stevenson (1-17, 1-8 CAC) in scoring for the second-straight game as was the only player in double figures with 12 points.

Junior guard Broderick Hill (Bowie/Bishop McNamara) and freshman guard Jason Scroggins (Baltimore/Boys' Latin) each had seven points while freshman center Andrew Bishop (Lothian/Southern) added a team-high six rebounds.

Tory Wilson led four players in double figures for Hood with 20 points to go along with a game-high eight rebounds. A total of 11 players scored for the Blazers who improved to 6-2 at home this season.

Tyler Snoots had 13 points and six rebounds while Brenden Straughan and Justin Stone added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Stevenson hosts Gallaudet on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs beat the Bison on the road, 64-62 back on December 2 for their lone victory of the season.
