Christian Roberts Scores Career-High 22 in Mustangs' 95-78 Win at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. - Led by a career-high 22 points and six steals from freshman Christian Roberts (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch), the Stevenson men's basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak and remained unbeaten in non-conference play this season with a 95-78 victory over Marywood Monday at Insalaco Arena.

The Mustangs (5-4) are 4-0 in non-conference contests this season and have won two of three road games. The last time the team scored at least 95 points was Jan. 3, 2011 in 95-89 overtime victory versus Lehman at Student Union Gymnasium.

The last time Stevenson scored 100 points was at York (Pa.) in a 104-92 quadruple overtime victory on Dec. 6, 2008.

Roberts was 8-for-10 from the floor while adding three rebounds, three assists and the most steals by a Mustang since Terrell Dantzler had seven against Gallaudet on Dec. 3, 1999. He also had just one turnover in 28 minutes.

Roberts is the third different Mustang to score at least 20 points this season, joining junior Stefon McCray (Milton, Fla./Archbishop Spalding) who had 26 versus Arcadia on December 1 and senior Brett Burrier (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) against Gallaudet on November 17.

Monday marked the second-straight game in which five players scored in double figures for Stevenson and the third time this season. Six players had at least 10 points for the Mustangs in their 86-53 victory over NYU Poly at home on November 24.

Stevenson fell behind by six in the game's first six minutes and trailed by the same margin at 24-18 with 9:36 remaining in the opening half which featured three ties and four lead changes.

However, a 17-2 run gave the Mustangs a nine-point lead, 35-26 with 4:19 to play and they never trailed again, leading for the game's final 26:42.

Stevenson, who led by as many as 23 points in the second half, shot 52.9 percent from the floor and forced 22 turnovers which led to 34 points. The team also held a plus-11 rebound margin and scored 19 second-chance points.

McCray totaled 19 points and seven rebounds off the bench and was 7-of-9 from the field. Burrier added 13 points and seven rebounds while senior Tyson Jacobs (Baltimore, Md./Owings Mills) had 11 points and  junior Alfonzo Hawkins (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City) scored 10 to go along with four assists.

Andrew Andrle led the Pacers (2-7) with 15 points while Matt Tintle had 13 to go along with five assists. Shane Kellaher had a four points, a team-high five rebounds and five assists.
