Fisher and Roberts Spark Second-Half Surge as Mustangs Upend Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Stevenson men's basketball junior Erik Fisher scored a career-high 30 points while junior Christian Roberts added 21 as the Mustangs rallied from a second-half deficit to defeat host Rochester Sunday at Louis Alexander Palestra in the UR/Holiday Inn Airport Tournament, 83-75.

The Mustangs (5-2), who have won back-to-back road games this season and four-straight overall, shot 55.2 percent from the field in the contest and were 8-for-15 from three-point range.

For his efforts, Roberts was named to the All-Tournament Team after scoring 37 points in the Mustangs' two contests this weekend.

After Stevenson took an early 2-0 lead, the hosts rattled off eight-straight to take a six-point lead just four minutes into the game. However, the Mustangs pushed back right away as senior Colby Giacubeno knocked down a three-pointer and a jumper, bracketed around a three-ball from Roberts.

The teams answered each other's runs throughout the remainder of the half and Stevenson took a 35-32 lead into the break led by nine points from Giacubeno.

Fisher helped the Mustangs maintain their lead in the opening stages of the second half with back-to-back three-pointers to extended their advantage to five, 41-36.

After a jumper by Rochester's Tyler Seidman cut the lead to three, Fisher hit two consecutive lay-ups to push the Mustangs' lead up to seven.

The Yellowjackets (3-2) answered with a 12-2 run over a span of 3:44 to take their first lead since the opening half at 55-50. Following a Stevenson turnover, the Rochester lead grew to seven on a lay-up by Dylan Peretz.

Led by Fisher and Roberts, the Mustangs climbed out of the hole as they cut the lead to 63-60 before Roberts scored 10-straight points to give Stevenson the lead for good, 70-65.

Giacubeno finished with 12 points off the bench while sophomore Darius Walker had eight points, eight assists and three steals.
