DANBURY, Conn. – Stevenson University men's basketball freshman Cameron Hayes was honored by the ECAC on Thursday, as he was named the Division III South Rookie of the Year.
Hayes, who was also named the MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year, ranked eighth in the conference and led and the Mustangs in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game, tops among MAC Commonwealth freshmen. He shot 42.2% from the floor and 78.1% from the free throw line. Hayes also averaged 4.2 rebounds per game.
Playing in all 25 games for Stevenson and starting 24, Hayes reached double figures in scoring 17 times and led the Mustangs in scoring on 11 occasions. Over Stevenson's final seven contests, Hayes averaged 21.4 points per game, including a career-high 31 points against Alvernia on February 14.
