Gary Stewart Serves As Facilitator at EMACS Symposium

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson University Assistant Athletic Director and head men's basketball coach Gary Stewart served as a facilitator at the 2017 Ethnic Minority Careers in Athletics Symposium sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Region Commissioners Association on Sunday, March 26 at Arcadia University at Glenside, Pa.

The EMACS was developed for students who are aspiring to or are just beginning a career in athletics.  The program aims to enrich participants' skills, expand their professional network and promote the recruitment and retention of ethnic minorities within athletics, including intercollegiate athletics.  A total of 49 students from NCAA Division III institutions throughout the Mid-Atlantic region participated.  The keynote speaker was Vicky Chun, Director of Athletics at Colgate University.

Stewart recently wrapped up his sixth season on the bench for Stevenson.  He has guided the Mustangs to a pair of ECAC Division III South titles and four MAC Commonwealth playoff appearances.  Active with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), Stewart, a veteran of nearly 25 years as a college head coach, serves on the NABC's Board of Directors.
