ANNVILLE, Pa. – Stevenson University senior guard Danzel Wright was named the MAC Commonwealth men's basketball Player of the Week Tuesday morning.
Wright averaged 25.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 46% from the floor, 44% from three and 83% from the free throw line en route to being named MVP of the Buffalo Wild Wings Classic hosted by Stevenson last weekend. He recorded 23 points in a first round win over Medgar Evers, then scored 27 points in a 75-68 win over Merchant Marine in the tournament's championship game on Saturday.
For the season, Wright is averaging 23.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 50.3% from the floor, 46.7% behind the three-point arc and 91.8% at the free throw line. He leads the MAC Commonwealth in scoring, free throw percentage and three-point percentage and ranks fourth in the conference in field goal percentage.
Stevenson, 9-4 overall, returns to action Wednesday night when it hosts Messiah in a 6:00 MAC Commonwealth contest.
