Brett Adams enters his 14th season as Head Coach of Villa Julie Men's Basketball. The Mustangs finished last season at 20-8, tying the record for victories in a season. The team also earned the college's second NCAA bid and faced Johns Hopkins University in the first round of the NCAA playoffs. The Mustangs fell, but it was a historic season nonetheless with the teams first North Eastern Athletic Conference championship as they defeated Chestnut Hill College in an overtime thriller.

In addition to being the only head coach in the program's history, Adams is also the only Athletic Director in the history of Villa Julie. Adams played a monumental role in placing Mustang Athletics in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference for men's lacrosse and into the North Eastern Athletic Conference for all other sports.  Thanks to Adams' hard work and determination, Villa Julie athletics will now participate in postseason conference tournaments for a second year. He came on board as Villa Julie's Athletic Director in 1994 taking the Mustangs into their first year of NCAA competition, and has held the post ever since, expanding Villa Julie Athletics to its current level of 20 intercollegiate sports.

Adams graduated from York College, PA where he played basketball for three years and was Co-Captain in 1989-99. After graduation, he remained at York, serving as Assistant Coach for the Spartan Men's Basketball team from 1989-94. During that time, York was regionally ranked for four years and nationally ranked for two.  In addition to coaching basketball, he also took on the position of Head Coach for Women's Tennis at York. Adams received the CAC Coach of the Year award in 1994 after leading the tennis squad to a national ranking. He then came to Villa Julie and has played an integral role in the athletic department.

Coach Adams and his wife, Linda Lee Adams (Villa Julie College Class of 1981) make their home in Timonium, Maryland. Mrs. Adams has a private practice in Psychotherapy located in Hunt Valley, Maryland. They are the proud parents of their daughter Emma Rose Adams.

Ronnie Murphy

Assistant Coach

Ronnie Murphy Men's Basketball

A former NBA athlete, first-year assistant coach Ronnie Murphy comes to the Villa Julie men's basketball program to share his knowledge and experience of the game.  Born in Dover, Delaware, Murphy graduated from Oviedo High School in Florida and went on to attend Jacksonville University, where he made his mark on NCAA basketball as a star player from 1983-87. During his career, he was a consistent scorer each season, averaging a total of 17 points per game over his four years with the Dolphins, according to basketball-reference.com.

Murphy's successful college career made him a first-round selection by the Portland Trailblazers in the 1987 NBA draft. He stayed with the team for one year, accumulating a sum of 36 points, six assists and 11 rebounds, and completed his NBA career after his rookie season.

Anthony Fitzgerald

Assistant Coach

Anthony Fitzgerald Men's Basketball

Anthony Fitzgerald played for the men's basketball team under Brett Adams from 2002-2006. Over the span of his career, he was one of only three Division III players to score over 2,000 points, the first All-American in Villa Julie history and the national leader in rebounds during his junior and senior years. He was also part of the program's first NCAA-tournament team, selected for the All-Region team each of his four years and given the MVP title in the First Annual Pride of Maryland Tournament.

The second-year assistant's role on the staff is to primarily help players who play down low in the post with their individual strategies. Fitzgerald has also been essential to finding new recruits for the team, and he also makes it his job to promote effective communication between the players and the head coach. As a player, Anthony Fitzgerald was a leader and an encourager, and as an assistant coach, not much has changed. One of his main goals for the Villa Julie men's squad is for them to "become unified," and his winning attitude is evidence of that goal.

Fitzgerald's vision is for the team to be conference champions and to once again see Villa Julie represented in the NCAA tournament, and he puts his heart into helping them do just that. Fitzgerald is a graduate of Polytechnic High School and is a student in Villa Julie's graduate program, working toward a Master's Degree in business management technology.

Artryl Jackson

Assistant Coach

Artryl Jackson Men's Basketball

Art Jackson returns for his second season as an assistant coach for the men's basketball program. A former Mustang player, Jackson is responsible for helping players at the shooting guard and forward positions better their game as well as aiding the department with game-day operations.

While serving as a team member under the current head coach for a year, Jackson proved to be an asset to the team, consistently contributing to the Mustangs' stats as part of the 2004-05 squad whose record was 18-10 for the season. Jackson graduated from the college in December 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in visual communications.

Steven Segears

Assistant Coach

Steven Segears Men's Basketball

Returning to the Villa Julies men's basketball program for the first time since graduating in spring 2007, Steven Segears leads the team's guards by example. After attending Belmont Abbey College from 2002-2003, Seagers made his way to Villa Julie and made history during his stay on the basketball team's roster. Seagers claims the first triple-double in the history of Villa Julie, was the Northeastern Athletic Conference MVP in 2007, made the 2006 All-Pride of Maryland Tournament team and helped take the team to the NCAA tournament in 2006 and 2007.

Seagers attended St. Johns College High School and is currently a graduate student at Villa Julie. He will receive a Master's in business management technology in May.
