Anthony Fitzgerald
Title: Assistant Coach |
Anthony Fitzgerald Men's Basketball
Anthony Fitzgerald played for the men's basketball team under Brett Adams from 2002-2006. Over the span of his career, he was one of only three Division III players to score over 2,000 points, the first All-American in Villa Julie history and the national leader in rebounds during his junior and senior years. He was also part of the program's first NCAA-tournament team, selected for the All-Region team each of his four years and given the MVP title in the First Annual Pride of Maryland Tournament.
The second-year assistant's role on the staff is to primarily help players who play down low in the post with their individual strategies. Fitzgerald has also been essential to finding new recruits for the team, and he also makes it his job to promote effective communication between the players and the head coach. As a player, Anthony Fitzgerald was a leader and an encourager, and as an assistant coach, not much has changed. One of his main goals for the Villa Julie men's squad is for them to "become unified," and his winning attitude is evidence of that goal.
Fitzgerald's vision is for the team to be conference champions and to once again see Villa Julie represented in the NCAA tournament, and he puts his heart into helping them do just that. Fitzgerald is a graduate of Polytechnic High School and is a student in Villa Julie's graduate program, working toward a Master's Degree in business management technology.
