Mangle Earns All-CAC First Team, Golf Finishes Fourth

HAMPSTEAD, Md. - Stevenson University men's golf senior Cliff Mangle (Westminster/Westminster) shot a three-over par 74 to finish in a tie for second place to lead the Mustangs to a fourth place finish at the 2009 CAC Golf Championship which concluded Sunday at Piney Branch Golf Club.

York (Pa.) won its first team title after posting a second round 303 to finish with a 614 and besting inaugural champion and 2008 NCAA championship participant Wesley by 16 strokes. Marymount (Va.) came in third, 21 strokes behind the Wolverines after shooting a 333, 15 strokes back of its first round score.

Stevenson finished with a two-day total of 663 after posting a 330 on day two, an improvement of three strokes over Saturday's first round. Last year, the Mustangs placed second after totaling a 653 and placing three members on the All-CAC Team.

Mangle was named All-CAC First Team after finishing the two-day tournament with a 153 and in a tie for second place with Wesley's Jeff Owsik. Mangle improved by 21 strokes over his 174 from a year ago which placed him in a tie for 16th with junior James Sciabarrasi Baltimore/Mt. Carmel).

Mangle was the lone Mustang to earn All-CAC honors after junior Matt Lukehart (Bel Air/Mt. Carmel) finished 11th, just missing his second-straight all-conference honor by one stroke, after posting a 160. He was also just one stroke of his total from a year ago when earned All-CAC First Team honors after finishing fourth with a 159.

Lukehart finishes the season with a team-best 78.5 scoring average, just ahead of Mangle's 79.2 average.

Senior Kevin Motz (Hagerstown/North Hagerstown) finished his final collegiate match in a tie for 17th with a 168. He earned All-CAC Second Team honors last year after finishing ninth with a 165.

Sciabarrasi finished one stroke behind sophomore Matt Bishop (Manchester/North Carroll) who carded a 182 while freshman Ryan Collett (Baltimore/Overlea) totaled a 198 as an individual.
