Maisel Fires Personal-Best 71, Finishes Sixth at Tom Kinder Memorial

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Senior Josh Maisel fired a personal-best score of 71 (one-under par) en route to finishing sixth overall at the Tom Kinder Memorial, held at the Lakeview Golf Club. Maisel finished the tournament with a two-day score of 144 (E), putting him just two strokes back of eventual winners Josh Hatcher Ferguson and Hunter Martin of Hampden-Sydney.

The Mustangs finished sixth overall in the team standings after shooting a combined 11-under in the second round, which was a 15-stroke improvement from day one. Hampden-Sydney took the team championship with a team score of one-over par. 

Junior Matthew Maione matched his career best with a 71 in the second round, placing him into a tie for 17th at six-over par.

Junior Matthew Shur improved on his opening round score by a stroke with a 79, while freshman Shane Angle bettered his mark from the previous day by four strokes with a 78. 

Junior Johnny Messina and graduate student Matt Rentz (played as an individual) finished with two-day scores of 169 and 171, respectively. 

The Mustangs tee off next on Wednesday, October 3 when they compete at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational, held at the Hanover Country Club. Tee time is set for 12:30 pm.
