Men's Lacrosse Receives Six All-America Selections

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Despite its loss to Gettysburg in the NCAA semifinals on Sunday, the record setting season for the Stevenson University men's lacrosse team continued on Tuesday as a school-record six players were named to the USILA Division III All-America Teams.
The Mustangs' six selections were tied for the most of any team in Division III along with Gettysburg and Roanoke. St. Lawrence came in second with five.
Headling Stevenson's selections were junior Steve Kazimer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) and sophomore Jimmy Dailey (Westminster/Winter Hills) who were both named to the first team.
Junior Nic Bevacqua (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and senior Mike Simon (Fallston/Fallston) were each named to the second team while junior Richie Ford (Baltimore/Towson) and senior Greg Furshman (Miami, Fla./Towson) were honorable mention.
This year marks the second-straight selections for Kazimer, Ford and Furshman who were all honorable mention selections last season, becoming the first players in school history to receive All-America honors.
Kazimer led the team in scoring with 69 points, the fifth-most in school history. He also ranked second on the team with 33 goals and 36 assists which were also the fifth-most in school history. After just two seasons, Kazimer is ranked second in school history with 152 points and 82 assists.
Dailey led the team with 37 assists, the fourth-highest total in school history, while ranking second in points with 66. He also added 29 goals. In just two seasons as a Mustang, he has totaled 126 points and 65 assists which are ranked sixth and fourth all-time in team history.
Bevacqua finished third on the team with 31 goals and fourth with 39 points. He also had 24 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. In three seasons with the Mustangs after transferring from Maryland, he totaled 97 points on 70 goals and 27 assists along with 50 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers.
Simon led the team in caused turnovers for the second time in the last three years with 39, the second-most in the CAC this season. He also had three goals, one assist and 53 ground balls. He finished his four-year career as the school's career leader in caused turnovers with 87 while adding 150 ground balls.
Ford led the team in goals for the second consecutive season, ranking third with 42 this year after totaling a school record 59 in 2008. After just two seasons at Stevenson, he is ranked second in school history with 101 goals.
Furshman finished his final season with 28 points, 23 goals and 46 ground balls. He also won 63.6 percent of his faceoffs which ranks him fourth in school history. The Mustangs' career leader in faceoff wins with 381, Furshman also finished second with 221 ground balls and third in goals with 96 while playing in a school record 68 games.
