Kazimer Named Division III Attackman of the Year

BOSTON, Mass. - Stevenson University men's lacrosse junior Steve Kazimer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) was named as the Division III recipient of the Lt. Col. J.I. Turnbull Award which is presented annually to the nation's Outstanding Attackman. He received his award at the USILA All-America Reception in Boston on Saturday, May 23.

Kazimer was one of six Mustang All-Americans to be honored Saturday night, joining sophomore Jimmy Dailey (Westminster/Winter Hills) who was also named to the first team, junior Nic Bevacqua (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and senior Mike Simon (Fallston/Fallston) who were chosen to the second team and junior Richie Ford (Baltimore/Towson) and senior Greg Furshman (Miami, Fla./Towson) who were honorable mention selections.

Kazimer is the first player in school history to be named the nation's top player at his position, joining Greg Cerar of C.W. Post who was selected as the recipient in Division II.

One of the greatest players to ever play, Lt. Col. Turnbull was an All-American at Johns Hopkins. He was a club player at Mt. Washington and a member of both the 1932 U.S. Olympic Team and the 1937 English Touring Team. He was elected into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1965.

Kazimer led the team in scoring this season with 69 points, the fifth-most in school history. The USILA Division III All-America and All-CAC First Team selection also ranked second on the team with 33 goals and 36 assists which were also the fifth-most in school history.

Tom Kehoe of Gettysburg was selected as the recipient of the Iroquois National Award as the Outstanding Player in Division III while Salisbury's Kylor Berkman received the Fran McCall Award as the nation's Outstanding Midfielder for the third-straight season.

Kehoe was also named the Long Pole Midfielder of the Year.
