OWINGS MILLS, Md. - After picking the Stevenson men's lacrosse team at No. 2 in its Division III national poll, Lacrosse Magazine has selected the Mustangs as the Breakthrough of the Year after finishing the nation's No. 1 ranking and advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.

The magazine cited Stevenson's school record 17 wins and six All-America selections in addition to its win over two-time defending national champion Salisbury.

Entitled "Mustang Madness," Lacrosse Magazine selected the Mustangs from all levels of college lacrosse and the team edged out Karri Ellen Johnson of Maryland, Rob Pannell from Cornell and the Virginia Tech women's team, all of whom were named honorable mention.
