No. 1 Men's Lacrosse Boasts Eight All-CAC Selections
YORK, Pa. - For the second consecutive season, the Stevenson men's lacrosse team had eight players named All-CAC, tops among all seven conference schools, while six were named to the first team. The No. 1-ranked Mustangs have had 24 All-CAC selections since joining the league prior to the 2007 season.
Stevenson's six first team selections were also the most in the conference and were highlighted by senior Steve Kazimer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) and juniors Jimmy Dailey (Westminster/Winters Mill) and Richie Ford (Baltimore/Towson) who swept the team's three attack positions.
Kazimer received his third-straight All-CAC First Team selection after leading the team and the CAC with 78 points and 38 assists. The 2009 USILA Division III Attackman of the Year and First Team All-American, he has totaled 230 points on 110 goals and 120 assists in just three seasons and 53 career games.
Dailey also earned his third All-CAC First Team selection after ranking third on the team and fifth in the CAC with 68 points on 36 goals and 32 assists. A First Team All-American last season, he has totaled 194 career points with 97 goals and 97 assists in 52 games.
Ford earns his third All-CAC selection and second first team honor after ranking second in the CAC with 73 points and leading the team and ranking fourth in the conference with 43 goals. A two-time Honorable Mention All-American, he has totaled 215 points in 53 career games, including a school record 144 goals.
Also earning first team accolades for the Mustangs were a trio of juniors in Kyle Moffitt (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), Evan Douglass (Exeter, N.H./Exeter) and Ray Witte (Annapolis/St. Peter and Paul), all of whom received their first career honor.
Moffitt has burst onto the scene this season, ranking fourth on the team in goals, assists and points. He has totaled 32 goals, eight assists and 40 points, all career-highs, while ranking first in the CAC with four game-winning goals.
Douglass earned his second-straight All-CAC honor after earning second team accolades a year ago. He leads the team with 28 caused turnovers and ranks fifth in school history with 30 ground balls. In 50 career games, Douglass has totaled 112 ground balls and 68 caused turnovers, 19 behind Mike Simon's school record.
Witte leads the CAC and ranks 10th in Division III with a .654 face-off winning percentage. Heads the conference and the nation with 238 wins and with 135 ground balls, is just 11 shy of Matt Krastel's school record set in 1998.
Also earning their first career All-CAC honors were seniors Mike Gustowarow (Annapolis/DeMatha) and Geoff Hebert (Lutherville/Dulaney).
Gustowarow is second on the team with 20 caused turnovers and fourth with 34 ground balls. Through 56 career games, he is ranked fourth in school history with 61 caused turnovers while posting 101 ground balls.
Hebert has been the leader of a defensive effort that leads the CAC in goals against and is ranked 24th nationally in scoring defense. He is also ranked fifth in the CAC in goals against average and sixth in saves percentage. Hebert is 25-2 as a starter, including 9-0 this season, and has totaled 306 saves in 42 career games.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday when it hosts No. 14 Denison at Caves Athletics Complex on Senior Day beginning at 1:00 p.m.
