OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's lacrosse senior Tyler Reid (Clinton, Conn./Xavier) scored a career-high seven points while netting a career-high six goals as the fourth-ranked Mustangs defeated Lebanon Valley 23-7 in the semifinals of the Commonwealth Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship Wednesday at Mustang Stadium.
Stevenson (16-2) will be making its fifth-straight appearance in a conference championship game after advancing to four consecutive Capital Athletic Conference title games from 2009-12 while winning the program's first conference championship in 2010.
Reid, a 2012 USILA Honorable Mention All-American, now has 110 career goals, surpassing Neal Barthelme for fifth on the school's all-time list and six behind Steve Kazimer for fourth.
Reid scored all six of his goals in a span of just 3:32 with all six coming back-to-back in the opening quarter and twice in the second.
The Mustangs scored the game's first five goals to lead 5-0 after back-to-back tallies by sophomore Mark Pannenton (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) at 9:50 and 6:36. They stretched their lead to 8-1 after one following two goals from Reid and senior Nick Rossi (Lutherville, Md./Towson).
Lebanon Valley (11-6) opened the second quarter with back-to-back tallies by Malik Pedroso and Klayton Garman to pull back within five at 9-3 with 11:14 remaining, but that would be as close as the Dutchmen would get as Stevenson answered with a 11-0 run to take a commanding 19-3 advantage with 3:39 to play in the third quarter.
Reid scored four goals during the run while sophomore Pat Candon (Long Beach, N.Y./Holy Trinity) added three goals and one assist. Candon finished the game with three goals and three assists, scoring six points for the second time in the last three home games after totaling two goals and four assists versus Albright on April 13.
Senior Peter Green (Hereford, Md./Hereford) also finished with three goals while sophomore Connor Curro (Lutherville, Md./St. Paul's) netted his first career goal with 12:22 remaining in the first quarter.
Freshman Dimitri Pecunes (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) needed just four saves in 34 minutes to improve his record to 12-2 as a starter. Sophomore Kevin Cain (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) made three saves in 18 minutes while junior Colin Rayburn (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) had two in seven.
Garman totaled three goals for the Dutchmen while Pedroso also had three points with two goals and one assist. Mike Moll made 13 saves in 38 minutes in goal while Kevin Krasley had three in 22.
Stevenson hosts Widener for the 2013 Commonwealth Conference championship on Saturday at Mustang Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs defeated the Pride earlier this season, 10-6 on April 20.
