OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's lacrosse seniors Glen Tompkins and Chris Dashiell each scored three points while sophomore Stephen Banick totaled six points with two goals and four assists as the third-ranked Mustangs posted an 18-4 victory over Messiah Wednesday night at Mustang Stadium on Senior Night.
Prior to the game, Stevenson (14-2, 7-0 MAC) honored its 10 seniors, including Tompkins who had three goals and Dashiell who added three assists. Defensively, senior Kyle Holechek totaled six caused turnovers and six ground balls.
After Will Franken scored just 1:15 into the game to give the Falcons (6-8, 3-4 MAC) a 1-0 lead, the Mustangs scored seven of the next eight to take a 7-2 halftime advantage. During the run, Dabney found the back of the net three times while Rossi scored twice.
Stevenson extended its lead to 11-2 with 6:43 remaining in the third quarter before Messiah scored again with 3:22 left in the third.
The Mustangs would add seven more goals in the fourth quarter, all by different players, with Banick and freshman Kyle D'Onofrio each posting a goal and two assists.
Senior Colin Rayburn, who made his 22nd career appearance and second of the season, made his first career start and played all 60 minutes while making four saves and picking up his first career win.
Franken finished with two goals while Tyler Goglio added a goal and two assists. Brooks Arnold made 18 saves.
Stevenson concludes its second season in the Commonwealth Conference on Saturday when it travels to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for a 1:00 p.m., contest at Lycoming.
