OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Senior Kyle D'Onofrio and junior Dominic DeFazio of the Stevenson University men's lacrosse team were each recently named to the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Division III All-America team. D'Onofrio was a First Team selection at midfield, while DeFazio was picked to the Second Team on defense.
D'Onofrio was a USILA Second Team All-America selection this season and also played in the North/South Game. A First Team ECAC All-Star and a MAC Commonwealth First Team All-Conference selection for the Mustangs, D'Onofrio totaled 50 goals and 24 assists in 20 games in 2017 out of the midfield, while also recording 51 ground balls. He had at least one goal in every game this season and also recorded multiple goals on 13 occasions. D'Onofrio wraps up his four-year career with the Mustangs with 107 goals and 51 assists for 158 points.
DeFazio, who was named the IMLCA South Region, ECAC South and MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year, started all 20 games for the Mustangs in 2017 and recorded a team-high 44 caused turnovers, while picking up 69 ground balls, the second highest total on the Mustangs. A two-time MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week, DeFazio had multiple caused turnovers in 13 contests and led a Stevenson defensive unit that allowed just 8.5 goals per game and allowed single-digit opponent goals in 12 of its final 14 contests.
The Stevenson men's lacrosse team finished 14-6 overall and ranked No. 13 USILA Division III poll. The Mustangs won their fifth consecutive MAC Commonwealth championship and made their ninth straight NCAA tournament appearance.
