OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University men's lacrosse team, ranked No. 17 in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook preseason poll, will once again face arguably the nation's toughest schedule in 2018. The Mustangs begin the season Sunday, February 25 at 1:00 pm when they host Denison, ranked No. 4 nationally in the preseason, at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs face seven straight teams ranked in the top 11 to open the season. After the matchup with Denison, Stevenson hosts No. 7 Gettysburg on March 3 before traveling to defending national champion and top-ranked Salisbury on March 10. The following weekend, Stevenson hosts the annual Mustang Classic, where it will host No. 11 Dickinson on Friday, March 16 and No. 3 York (Pa.) the following night. After the annual clash at Mustang Stadium with No. 9 Tufts on March 20, Stevenson hosts No. 8 Cabrini on Friday, March 23.
Stevenson opens MAC Commonwealth play Tuesday, March 27 when it hosts Alvernia, then rounds out the month by traveling to Albright on March 31.
In addition to its MAC Commonwealth foes, Stevenson faces two ranked opponents to open April, hosting No. 21 Stevens on April 3 and traveling to No. 10 Lynchburg April 6. The regular season concludes at home against Widener on Friday, April 27.
The MAC Commonwealth Championship semifinals are set for Wednesday, May 2, with the title game set for Saturday, May 5. Stevenson has captured the MAC Commonwealth title in each of its first five seasons in the league.
The Stevenson men's lacrosse team finished 14-6 overall and ranked No. 13 USILA Division III poll in 2017. The Mustangs won their fifth consecutive MAC Commonwealth championship and made their ninth straight NCAA tournament appearance.
