Villa Julie 3, Baptist Bible 0
Stevenson, MD.- Brent Woolford's (Pasadena, MD / North East) goal exactly three minutes into the game gave Villa Julie (5-4) an early jump as the Mustangs handed a 3-0 men's soccer loss to North Eastern Athletic Conference foe Baptist Bible (5-3-1). It was the third shutout in as many conference games played by Villa Julie in the young 2006 campaign.
Three different players scored for the Mustangs. Mark Sturgeon's (Baltimore / Curley) goal early in the 49th minute made it 2-0. Jurgen Tabaku (Germantown, MD / Thomas Wootton) made it 3-0 approximately ten seconds after he stepped onto the pitch in the 84th minute, squashing any hopes of late-game heroics for the visiting squad. Brent Snyder (Essex, MD / Patapsco) and Scott Andrzejewski (Lutherville, MD / Towson) assisted on the first and third goal, respectively.
Villa out-shot Baptist Bible 27-16. Eric Lowman (Baltimore / Catonsville) recorded eight saves in the win before yielding the net to Adam Wiatrowski (Baltimore / Patapsco), who completed the shutout with a single save over the final 15 minutes of play. Dan Durrwachter turned away seven Mustang shots while working the full 90 minutes.
With the win Villa improves to 5-4 (3-0 NEAC), while Baptist Bible falls to 5-3-1 (1-2-1 NEAC). The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday when Villa Julie hosts Penn State-Berks on the Stevenson Campus. That NEAC game gets underway at 4:00 p.m.
