Villa Julie 6, Polytechnic 1
Brooklyn, NY.- Kim Myrick (Columbia, MD / Wilde Lake) scored a goal and assisted on a pair as the Villa Julie men's soccer team (7-4) cruised to a 6-1 win over Polytechnic (1-7) on Saturday. The win leaves Villa Julie unblemished in NEAC play with a 5-0 conference mark.
Polytechnic got on the board first, but Villa answered with five-straight. Myrick factored on each of the first three. Myrick fed Vinny Caltabiano (Lothian, MD / Mt. St. Joseph's) to draw the teams even before the half. He then set up Brent Woolford (Pasadena, MD / Northeast) for the game-winner early in the second half before getting himself in the scoring column with an unassisted goal.
Ryan Payne's (Millersville, MD / Old Mill) shot from beyond the midfield line and a Mark Franklin (Piney River, VA / Nelson County) penalty kick made it 4-1. Ryan Krueger (Baltimore / Gibbons) converted on a pass from Joel Mansker (Ocean City, MD / Stephen Decatur) to round out the day's scoring.
Villa out-shot Polytechnic 24-2, and held an 11-2 advantage in corners. Polytechnic's Wilson Zhindon came up with six saves in the loss.
With the win, Villa Julie improves to 7-4 (5-0 NEAC), while Polytechnic falls to 1-7 (0-4 NEAC). Villa returns to action on Tuesday against Philadelphia Bible.
