Men's Soccer Held Scoreless at Lebanon Valley, 2-0

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Stevenson University men's soccer team held the Middle Atlantic region's No. 6-ranked team without a goal for the final 72:34, but could not erase a two-goal deficit as Lebanon Valley handed the Mustangs their second-straight loss, 2-0 Monday afternoon at Herbert Field.

Monday's game was rescheduled from Saturday in anticipation of the inclement weather in the region caused by the remnants of Hurricane Hanna.

Ethan Groff and Travis Steedle netted back-to-back goals for the Dutchmen (3-1) in the first 18 minutes with both coming on Lebanon Valley's first two shots of the game.

Senior Adam Wiatrowski (Baltimore/Patapsco) made three saves for the Mustangs (2-3) who had two great opportunities to tie the game hit the crossbar in the first half and the post in the second half.

In the first half, freshman Eric Hollander (Reisterstown/Franklin) had a header that hit the crossbar in the 43rd minute before a header by senior Sal Caltabiano (Jarrettsville/Western Guilford (N.C.)) hit the post in the 88th minute.

With the exception of the first two shots by Lebanon Valley, both teams were evenly matched as they each had 11 shots and four corner kicks. The Dutchmen committed 17 fouls compared to just seven for Stevenson, but Tim Mehl earned his third shutout of the season by making four saves for Lebanon Valley.

The Mustangs will have the next four days off before beginning a four-game homestand against Neumann on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
