OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson University men's soccer senior Sal Caltabiano (Jarrettsville/Western Guilford (N.C.)) scored his first two goals of the season, including the game-winner in the 94th minute to give the Mustangs a 4-3 victory over Shenandoah Saturday at the Caves Complex.

Caltabiano's two goals were also his first two as a Mustang while the win snapped a five-game winless streak for Stevenson (3-5-1) who outshot the Hornets, 25-14.

The game featured three ties and four lead changes with the last coming on Caltabiano's second goal of the game just 3:49 into the first overtime. Following a shot that was blocked in front, Caltabiano gathered the loose ball and sent it far post past Shenandoah keeper Brian Garretson.

Caltabiano's first goal came in the 58th minute with the Mustangs trailing 2-1 off a double assist from freshman Jake Stocksdale (Hampstead/North Carroll) and junior Brooks Kyker (Westminster/Westminster) after Kyker sent the ball in from the sideline and Stocksdale flipped over to Caltabiano in front of the goal.

Stevenson would then take its first lead in the 77th minute when freshman Chris Sokolis (Perry Hall/Perry Hall) scored his second goal of the season off an assist from freshman Eric Hollander (Reisterstown/Franklin). The assist was also the second of the year for Hollander, a team-high.

However, Shenandoah (0-8-1) would tie the game just 1:18 later when Adam Aldinger scored his team-leading third goal of the year off an assist from Chris Wondree after Wondree scored in the 50th minute to give the Hornets a 2-1 lead.

In the first half, Stevenson sophomore Tyler King (Parkville/Calvert Hall) tied the game at 1-1, assisted by junior Vinny Caltabiano (Lothian/Mount Saint Joseph), Sal's cousin, only 40 seconds after Shenandoah took the lead on a goal by Liberatus Mwagombe at 26:16.

Freshman Ryan Flannelly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) picked up his first career win in his first career start in goal for the Mustangs after making two saves. Garretson had seven saves for the Hornets.

Stevenson looks to continue its new found momentum when it opens CAC play on Wednesday at York (Pa.). Game time is at 4:00 p.m. The game will mark the beginning of a four-game road trip for the Mustangs.
