Box score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - After a scoreless first half, Salisbury scored three second half goals to snap a four-game winless streak with a 3-0 victory over the Stevenson University men's soccer team Wednesday afternoon at the Caves Complex.

The hotly-contested game featured 40 fouls and four yellow cards while being played in front a supportive Stevenson crowd of 252 fans.

The Sea Gulls (9-3-1, 2-2 CAC) outshot the Mustangs 15-3 in the second half and were led by Kyle Sterling who picked up an assist on all three goals, increasing his team-leading total to five.

In just his second start and fifth appearance in goal this season, Joshua Cotton made two saves to pick up his first win and shutout of the season.

The game was scoreless for the first 52:24 until Ben DeLisle scored what proved to be the game-winner at 52:25, assisted by Sterling.

Sterling then assisted on Mike Napolitano's team-leading sixth goal of the year in the 64th minute, tying him with Sterling, before finding Kenneth Price less than nine minutes later for his first goal of the season to cap the scoring.

Stevenson senior Adam Wiatrowski (Baltimore/Patapsco) made six saves in 80 minutes before giving way to freshman Ryan Flannelly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex).

The Mustangs (4-8-2, 0-3-1 CAC) also had two team saves, both coming from senior Ryan Payne (Millersville/Old Mill), including a sliding stop in the 61st minute on Ben DeLisle who was on the left post facing an open net.

The second one came on the second of three consecutive shots by Alex Hargrove in the box in the 75th minute.

Salisbury held a 20-8 margin in shots for the game and an 8-6 edge in corner kicks.

Stevenson returns to action at home this Saturday against CAC foe Marymount (Va.). Game time is at 1:00 p.m.
