OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's soccer junior Yianni Sarioglou (Perry Hall, Md./Calvert Hall) totaled three points on a goal and an assist as the Mustangs defeated local rival Goucher, 2-0 at Mustang Stadium on Wednesday.
The Mustangs (4-2-1) have not dropped a home game this season, having gone 4-0-1. They are 8-5-1 at Mustang Stadium over the past two seasons.
After a scoreless first half, where Stevenson outshot the Goucher 18-3, freshman Adnan Alic (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) tallied the game winner on a feed from Sarioglou just 6:36 into the second half.
With 3:03 remaining, senior Christopher Panian (Monkton, Md./John Carroll) sent a low cross into the box which was deflected off of Goucher goalie Nicholas Stolarz allowing Sarioglou to score an insurance goal on an open net.
Stolarz led Goucher (5-3) with six saves while junior Pat Carey (Brooklyn Park, Md./North County) finished with two.
The Mustangs outshot the Gophers 24-7 and held a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks.
