Men's Tennis Dominates in Spring Opener Against Lancaster Bible

STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team improved to 3-0 after defeating visiting Lancaster Bible by a 9-0 score in its spring opener, held at the Greenspring Courts.

In No. 1 doubles, juniors Drew Ryan and Ray McDermott opened things up with an 8-1 triumph. Junior Andre Sturniolo and senior Douglas Vaughan kicked off their spring campaign with an 8-0 win, improving their record to 3-0 on the season. In No. 3, sophomore Richie Abruscato and freshman Lukas Sanidas cruised to an 8-1 win. 

In No. 1 singles, McDermott picked up a straight-set victory by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Sturniolo picked up his second singles victory on the year with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph in No. 2. Ryan improved his singles record to 3-0 after picking up a 6-0, 6-2 win in No. 3.

Vaughan won his No. 4 match in straight sets (6-4, 6-0), while Sanidas won his No. 5 match by a 6-2, 6-3 margin. Freshman Larry Johnson III dominated in No. 6 singles, winning by a 6-0, 6-1 score. 

The Mustangs will look to remain undefeated when they take on Edgewood (Wisconsin) in the first of their three spring break matches in Hilton Head, S.C. on Monday, March 18 at 8:15 a.m.
