Mustangs Win Distance Medley Relay at ECAC's, Set School Record

New York, N.Y. - The Stevenson men's distance medley relay team took first overall and set a school record in the event on the first of two days at the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at The Armory. Junior Sam Mercoli, freshman Sean Dodson, junior Langston Gash and sophomore Patrick Watson finished with a combined time of 10:25.13, which broke the school mark set at last week's MAC Championships (10:26.02). 

In the 4x200m relay, juniors Morgan Cheatham, Malcolm Hayward, Josh Mitchell and Avery Wood finished with a time of 1:32.05, giving them fifth-place overall. 

Junior Matt Riggins and sophomore Aaron Holliday qualified for the 60m dash finals with preliminary times of 7.06 and 7.08.

After four of seven events in the heptathlon, freshman Ritchie Case sits in third place out of 11 competitors with 2490 points. Case placed second in the shot put with a toss of 10.61m, while placing third in each of the other three events (long jump - 6.16m, high jump - 1.75m, 60m dash - 7.35). Sophomore Gabe Madro is in the sixth spot with 2120 points. 

Freshman Maurice Johnson took ninth in the shot put with a throw of 13.35m.

After the first day of competition, the Mustangs are third overall in the team standings with 14 points. Misericordia leads with 28 points, while Salisbury holds the second spot with 16. 

The second and final day of the meet takes place on Saturday, March 3.
